The next time you're driving home in the afternoon, take a look at the driver of the car next to you. If they're laughing, there is a pretty good chance "Big Shoe" Stu and Dena Fox are on the radio! Since the spring of 2004, Stu and Dena have been cracking people up as they ride the KMLE home.
"Big Shoe" Stu Evans
"Big Shoe" Stu Evans has been hosting afternoons on KMLE Country 108 since June 1989. (This could be the longest running show on Valley radio!)
Stu has been named Country Music Association Major Market Personality of the Year and Academy of Country Music Disc Jockey of the Year!He is one of very few personalities honored by both of these organizations.
More than just big shoes (Size 15AA), Stu has a big heart. He devotes time to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as celebrity host of the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. He helps out Special Olympics Arizona, Phoenix Children's Hospital, and March of Dimes. You will often see Stu on KAET Channel 8 Public Television, during membership drives.
Stu occasionally has performed stand-up comedy at the Tempe Improv, Mardi Gras and the Phoenix Theatre. He also enjoys acting, and has been featured in Scottsdale Desert Stages productions of "The King & I", "Damn Yankees", "Jesus Christ, Superstar", "Beauty & the Beast", and "The Music Man".
As you ride the KMLE home, you'll often hear Stu talking about his wife, Bunny, or their two daughters, Maya and Carly. All three of them are far more entertaining than Stu himself!!!!!
Dena Fox never dreamed of having a career in radio – although like many kids, she did command control of her parents’ car radio dial at an early age. Dena's career in the radio and music industry spans more than 25 years, starting out on her college station at the University of Vermont. With a few years of college radio under her belt, she then got her first paying gig doing mornings on top 40 WXXX-FM in Burlington, Vermont while finishing up her last year of school. After a brief stint in Kansas City, at KCPW-FM, it was on to Phoenix.
Dena has been heard on the airwaves in Phoenix since she moved here back in 1989, and on KMLE Country 108 for more than 3 years now. Dena’s a versatile market veteran and has worked a variety of formats, shifts, and held positions like Music Director, Assistant Program Director, Program Director and Promotions Director. Dena is back to doing what she loves most, which is being on the air full time, now teamed up with veteran afternoon host, “Big Shoe” Stu Evans. What Dena has always loved the most about working in radio, besides the music, is the ability to get involved with a variety of community organizations to help make a difference.
